Basics
Our reading groups meet monthly. Each year we plan a reading season which runs from October to April. At each session groups discuss two (loosely-paired) contemporary novels. Groups consist of up to 18 members. Each group includes at least one member of library staff who acts as facilitator. Meeting times and venues are planned so that potential members have a good range to choose from. Each group develops its own individual character according to its membership, but all read the same season of books. Then, during the summer months we hold a number of joint, more social, events in order to bring the groups together, keep up the momentum and, if they so wish, give members the opportunity to swap from one group to another. Garden parties, wine tastings - you know the sort of thing.
