Who, where, when
Think about who needs to come to the training session, when they can come and for how long. How many people do you want to involve? Will you run a small number of sessions with lots of participants or a larger number of sessions with fewer people attending?
In our example Pat Bidston, Branching Out Librarian for Gloucestershire, planned to use the Loud and Proud promotion of gay and lesbian writing at Gloucester Library.
In order to include all staff members who might be likely to deal with queries about the Loud and Proud promotion, the training was fitted into the slot immediately before the library opened over three days, with six to eight staff members in each group. Where staff were unable to attend the early morning sessions, other sessions were set up and the training was delivered as a complete three-quarters of an hour programme or as two half-hour sessions.
