NEW! Changing your co-ordinator

Frontline is a course that relies for its success as much on real life support, as it does in online course material.  Part of the guarantee of quality is the involvement of Opening the Book trainers, whose role it is to ensure that every Co-ordinator has experienced the course, is confident with supervising trainees and has considered the management of the work of the course and its strategic use.  Each authority currently using Frontline was able to have that induction process free of charge because of the publicly funded support of the rollout of the course.  If there is a change of Co-ordinator, then the process will involve Opening the Book.

If you need to give up the role, and your replacement is new to the course, then Opening the Book will take them right through the course as a trainee, as we have done with you, which will cost £1,200. If they are a trainee who has not completed the course, we will not ask them to repeat work, but will want to discuss the work and the management of the modules that they have completed, and take them through the rest of the work.   It may take a while to do that, and meanwhile your rollout might be halted and your trainees could be left waiting because there will be no one able to access the Co-ordinator’s tools online.

If your replacement is an experienced supervisor, then the process of induction as Co-ordinator involves us looking at the work they have already done, both as a trainee and a supervisor, and sending them our views on that.   We also explore the co ordinator role with them in a series of questions.  This process takes about a week and is therefore much less disruptive and cheaper, costing £600.

If you have run support sessions for your supervisors, have notes in your experience bank and have a replacement that has worked closely with you and understands your role then the transfer would be much simpler. Crucially, your replacement needs to have been involved in supervision and support of trainees and other supervisors.  If you have all this in place, then the process would involve us asking them a series of questions about their role and plans by email, and would cost £300.

If you appoint somebody who has already been a Co-ordinator for another authority, then this would involve a simple transfer, and would be free of charge.
