NEW! Responsibilities of the Frontline co-ordinator

The Co-ordinator of Frontline will take on a range of jobs connected with the role.  Some tasks will shared with other staff but these are the key responsibilities that the person in the role is likely to undertake to maximise the quality and impact of the course in their library service.

Learning

  • To undertake the course as a trainee with the supervision of the course authors to a high standard of competence
  • To understand and note specific advice pertinent to the authority for supervisors to manage their trainees’ work online

Training

  • To supervise and assess colleagues
  • To help weak trainees and stretch strong ones
  • To decide criteria for a trainee to become a supervisor
  • To support and induct supervisors in their role
  • To prepare a key supervisor to be able to deputise in the Co-ordinator role

Support

  • To encourage and support trainees and supervisors
  • To supervise some trainees personally
  • To engage with managers to ensure that trainees and supervisors can undertake the course comfortably in their place of work 

Evaluation

  • To monitor the quality of learning and assessment during the rollout
  • To check work and issue certificates
  • To evaluate the impact of the course and feedback to managers 

Strategy

  • To plan the rollout of the course amongst staff
  • To identify trainees who will make good supervisors of their peers

Liaison

  • To act as the key contact between the course providers and the authority
  • To contribute feedback and suggestions for change to the course providers
  • To liaise between IT department and the staff to ensure good computer access

Administration

  • To be familiar with the contents of the website
  • To keep current with news and updates on www.branching-out.net
  • To register all trainees onto the course
  • To keep abreast of the progress of the rollout on site
  • To ensure that the technical requirements for staff computers to access the course are in place
  • To ensure all trainees have a personal email address

Advocacy

  • To interest potential trainees to take the course
  • To present the course effectiveness and impact to senior managers
  • To be the key information contact for the course in the authority
