We have a large resource of Reading Group books in Gateshead.  We buy 12 copies of each title in paperback. 

These are chosen either by myself or my assistant often using NewBooks mag as a guide,  what is in the news and personal choice.  We encourage group members to offer suggestions and other members of staff chip in too. 

As we have 16 groups which are library based and we support another 12 groups run independently, we don't find that we have to recycle any of the books - we discard them, unless we have bought a bummer which they hate!! - has been known!  

We also use "Book of the Month" from Harper Collins which can give a change.  We have swapped books in the region but transport and tracking copies down was a nightmare, we did get funding from the Arts Council to buy sets for Durham, N. Tyneside, Gateshead and Sunderland in the early days of Branching Out, but now we just tend to swap ad hoc with Newcastle - they are nearer! 

We never have enough titles and groups always die for more choice of course!
