We do have a special collection of well over 100 reading group sets, with up to 10 copies in each, which has been built up over the last few years.

There is no specific policy for selection at present, but recently most have been bought in response to specific requests (eg Classics) or assembled from books used in promotions (eg Richard & Judy - not all of which, of course, are suitable for use with groups).

There was a move towards co-operation through Time to Read last year, and we did list a few sets for swapping, but I think it became clear that everyone was looking to pass on similar material, while the in-demand stuff was obviously still in use.

One reason for responding to the Branching Out query, is that we feel we need to manage the collection more actively, and would be interested in others' experience.  I know some authorities do things very differently, which may make it tricky to set up sharing agreements.
