The role of the group
In August 2006 Opening the Book took on sole responsibility for the provision and running of the Frontline online course. Whereas before this date we had worked in partnership with the Society of Chief Librarians and the Arts Council, now we are solely responsible for the delivery of the course to all library authorities.
Part of our contract with authorities to provide Frontline is to continue to provide tools and upgrades that improve the course, help build the support structure for it and maintain the quality of learning as the cascade widens
To do that we need to explore and understand how it is being used. That is why we have created a small group of users who have an interest in the course to advise us. The role of this group is advisory and consultative and its aim is to explore practical improvements as well as strategic questions of quality and impact.
During 2007 we will circulate the main ideas and proposals that arise from the group to all Co-ordinators, and will be undertaking another round of evaluation as we approach our 2007 upgrade of the site.
