NEW! Working meetings to share good practice

As Frontline rollouts gains momentum amongst library staff, and is used in the majority of English library authorities, one of the needs that Frontline co-ordinators have identified is for standards in supervision to be agreed and shared.  This will standardise and maintain the quality of learning on the course and help co-ordinators support their supervisors by agreeing widely shared benchmarks of good practice.  The Frontline consultative group recommended that the best way to do this would be for co-ordinators to get together to share and compare current work and assessments.

Opening the Book is organising and hosting a series of regional working days for co-ordinators to undertake this work. These are free, as part of the service that we offer under the contract to supply the course.  These working sessions will explore best practice and set benchmarks for future assessments. Anne Downes or Fiona Edwards will be running the sessions from May until the January 2008.

All current co-ordinators have been invited to a meeting close to their region.  A list of meetings can be found here

If you are attending a meeting, please read the document here.  It describes a very important piece of preparation that you will need to do beforehand, so that you will have appropriate materials to use on the day.  A successful result of the working day depends on you bringing the listed work, so please do look over the programme in good time. If you have any questions, Anne ([email protected] ) will try to answer them!

Lunch (and tea and coffee) will be provided free of charge at all meetings.

Opening the Book offers their thanks to everyone who has given their valuable time to help us organise these meetings, and in particular to Pauline Martin of South Tyneside Libraries who has contributed her invaluable help and crucial suggestions at every stage of the Frontline project.
