Imprint
From it’s conception in May 2004, Quercas quickly made its mark, producing best sellers with each of its first two titles. Universe and Speeches that Changed the World have gone on to sell strongly world wide. The company and its list expanded with the launch of an exciting crime fiction list concentrating on major authors and the introduction of a large-format illustrated list. Quercus made its debut apearance on the UK bestseller lists with Peter Temple’s The Broken Shore, quickly following this with their first literary prize for Stef Penney’s The Tenderness of Wolves, which won the Costa Best First Novel Award and was victor in the overall Book of the Year category.
The Financial Times said recently: ‘In its short life Quercus has become a poster child for the rising fortunes of small British publishers’.

Example publication
The Tenderness of Wolves – Stef Penney
A subtle and compelling mystery set in the Canadian outback in 1867, half detective novel and half literary fiction. It's about racial prejudice, mother love, greed, illicit passion and what happens to people when they spend too much time alone.

Who will read these books?
The press offers a wide range of types of read. There is something in this fiction list for everyone and an enticing list of non-fiction as well. This is a press well worth checking on a regular basis as its titles should issue well from Quick Choice displays, and promotions designed to attract browsers.
