We have someone responsible for Black/Asian services
Make sure that you know what they are buying and that staff are involved in how it is promoted, and that any reader consultation that they do is passed on to a wider group of staff, and that you let them know what your readers say.
It may be that they see their responsibility more in original language material, rather than in contemporary fiction and reader-centred promotion, but the two need to work together to reach a range of readers. If you are trying to bring Black and Asian writers to the attention of a majority of white readers, you will need to work closely with this member of staff.
By relying on a sole member of staff, you can feel that the matter needs no further attention or resources, whereas it is important to make sure that the whole service is involved with serving Black and Asian readers, in the same ways as white ones. Services to Black and Asian readers need attention from all parts of the library service, and should be able to share the resources and co-operation too.
