Introduction

World literature is a loose category of adult fiction, but you can easily identify it in a library - it is largely made up of the books by authors with foreign names that hardly ever get issued from the A-Z shelves!

World literature is not a genre, there are lots of different types of read here, either in translation, or written in English.  These titles are varied, exciting and many are bestsellers in their own countries.  We need to treat them differently to get them noticed.

It's good to start by considering what puts readers off trying these books and how we might overcome those barriers.
