Conclusion

So what is the attraction?  Quite simply it is very similar to the returns trolley syndrome!  Anyone who has taken a trolley of recently returned fiction into a busy library will testify to the fact that it is an experience part rugby scrum, part first day of the sales!  Why? Because we work on the assumption that if someone else has read it, it's worth having.  It's a subtle form of book recommendation from customer to customer.

The Best Sellers collection has taken that just one step further.  It is the literary equivalent of a fast food outlet!  Someone else has taken the trouble to separate out the 'good reads'.  The collection has offered borrowers the best in popular fiction but also the chance to experiment a little.

Best Sellers at North Tyneside has been an undoubted success.  For the sake of a little imagination and preparation, and a comparatively small financial outlay, customers have been offered something extra in book loan facilities.

If you have any queries on this project, contact Val Page at North Tyneside Libraries.
