backBook of the Month
project partners: HarperCollins

All library authorities are welcome to participate in Branching Out projects. If you are interested in running Book of the Month, please contact: Terrie Riley ([email protected])

HarperCollins and Branching Out are piloting a scheme to explore the routes by which libraries can ensure that they have the hot new releases at the same time as bookshops. A selection of titles is being bought by the pilot authorities and placed in libraries as multiple copies.

  • HarperCollins is supplying the project team with forthcoming Flamingo publishing plans in order to make earlier buying decisions based on Advance Information and jacket illustrations rather than waiting for finished copies.
  • Branching Out is purchasing titles selected via Books for Students for promotions in the pilot authorities. HarperCollins is providing a generic Flamingo header and poster and promotional materials, for example author profiles, reading group questions, backlist information, as appropriate.
  • HarperCollins is identifying authors who would find talking to reading groups a useful experience as an alternative to the conventional author reading.
